For people facing mental health problems, it is not only the disorder which they fight but also stigma, ignorance and the struggle to understand and obtain their legal rights in all sorts of areas. In many countries specific mental health legislation has been put in place to protect sufferers, but there are others, for example, Eastern Bloc countries, African nations etc who have basic or no legislation at all in this area.Charities are being set up to fight this and set up better conditions and laws for people with mental disorders. This reviews looks at organizations set up for this purpose, and also the provision of legislation support in the UK and US. The websites looked at offered current information about the state of mental health legislation and treatment in various countries, case studies, reports and statistics.
