THE QUEBEC DELEGATION ATTENDS CETI'S OFFICIAL INAUGURATION

CTT Group and UpTex have been maintaining close links for several years now. A key moment in the collaboration occurred in 2010, when they were part of a major industry mission to the second Symposium on the French competitive clusters and Quebec's Niches of Excellence. The Textile Journal covered the event in depth, elaborating on the possibilities it represented and the spinoffs it might generate (vol. 127, no. 3, and vol. 128, no. 1). It was therefore natural that a mission made up of manufacturers and scientists should visit France to take part in the official inauguration of the Centre Europeen des Textiles Innovants (CETI) on October 10, 2012, in the northern French town of Tourcoing. Alain Poirier (president of Soleno), Robert Belanger (president of Belt-Tech), Roger Sylvestre (CEO of the Cegep de Saint-Hyacinthe), Jacek Mlynarek (CEO of CTT Group), Toan Vu-Khanh (professor at ETS and holder of the Research Chair in Protective Materials and Equipment for Occupational Safety and Health), Jaime Lara and myself joined some 1,400 international decisionmakers from economic, scientific, political and artistic spheres attending the unveiling of this new multisectoral technological platform dedicated to research and innovation in textile materials.
