Investigation to study the behaviour of PCC and sulphur concrete containing specified weight of sulphur exposed to corrosive environment (5 percent H_2SO_4 and 5 percent HCL solution) for 28 days revealed the fact that plain concrete cube deteriorated more than sulphur concrete. Eighteen percent replacement of cement by sulphur (by weight) makes the concrete impervious and enhances the resistance to chemical attack of concrete exposed to different corrosive environment. The compressive strength of concrete increased significantly when 18 percent sulphur (by weight) in place of cement was added. The strength of PCC exposed to corrosive medium reduced significantly. This reduction in strength of PCC exposed to corrosive environment was mainly due to expansive salt formation and weakening of bonds. The formation of expansive salt also resulted in loss of cementitious properties and loss of weight. The plain concrete and sulphur concrete exposed to H_2SO_4 solution were found to be least durable. This paper gives details of investigations and the results obtained were discussed.
