摘要

Titanium dental implants are permanent fixtures anchored to the jawbone and topped with individual replacement teeth or with a bridge that screws or cements into the posts. During last decades, surgical implantation of teeth supported by structures in biocompatible titanium underwent a growing success. Both commercially pure titanium grades 3.7025 and 3.7035 and titanium alloys such as TiAl6V4 (grade 3.7165) are used in implants and for dental prostheses [1]. One advantage of titanium materials in this field is that they are completely neutral in taste and represent an excellent alternative for patients who suffer from allergic or toxic reactions to other dental alloys. Titanium corrosion behavior also recommends it highly for dental applications.
