The key goal of the paper by El-Hadek and Tippur [1] is the experimental determination of Young's modulus, tensile strength, and fracture toughness of syntactic foams (i.e., particulate composites obtained by filling a polymeric matrix with hollow spherical inclusion), and the provision of microchemical models for predicting such material parameters.
