Glass-ceramics from mixtures of coal ash and soda-lime glass by the petrurgic method

Glass-ceramic materials are polycrystalline solids prepared by controlled crystallization of suitable glass compositions. This is normally achieved by subjecting the glass product to carefully regulated heat treatments at selected temperatures for given periods of time in order to induce crystallization processes. Usually a two-stage heat treatment is required; a low temperature treatment for nucleation and a higher temperature treatment to obtain crystal growth at an acceptable rate [1].
