Young's modulus of carbon from a mixture of oil palm bunches and latex

Oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) produced at the palm oil mill in Malaysia amount to about 2 million tonnes a year [1]. The traditional uses of this waste material are as boiler fuel, mulching material and organic fertilizer (after burning). Research into using the EFB for making tiles, pulp and paper [2] and solid carbon products can be found in the literature [2-5]. Over the past five years, the annual import of solid carbon products (excluding carbon black and activated carbon) to Malaysia was worth about RM 20 million [6].
