On the nature of the reflecting coat in glass ceramic produced from industrial waste: Mossbauer and ESR spectrocopies

Glass ceramics produced from solid wastes of the recovery of shale oil from the Irati Formation at Brazil develop a metal-like reflecting coat as a result of thermally induced crystallization process under oxidizing atmosphere. Rincon [1] and Callejas et al, [2] reported similar behaviour in glass ceramics obtained from mica-type minerals. The nature of this reflecting surface is, however, not completely understood.
