Phase stability of the Al-N system

Based on thermodynamic calculations, the phase stability diagram for the Al-N system was constructed as follows. According to the Gibbs free energy of formation for aluminium nitride in the JANAF tables [1] AIN crystals will decompose and vaporize into nitrogen gas and aluminium vapour at 2803.36 K, beyond which is the boiling point of aluminium at 2793 K. The relations for the equilibrium nitrogen pressures with respect to temperature.
