摘要

Galvanizing processes using an alloyed zinc bath are the newest and most versatile techniques for coating killed or semikilled steels containing silicon to protect them against corrosion. The use of normal galvanizing procedures with silicon steels leaves the galvanizer confronted with an excessive coating thickness, represented by the Sandelin peak in the curve of coating thickness versus silicon content in steel [1,2]. The main purpose for using alloying elements is to decrease this detrimental effect of silicon. Nevertheless, the formation of ternary compounds constitutes the main drawback of the process when adding aluminium [3], nickel [4] or manganese [5] to the bath.
