摘要

In 1984 Shechtman and co-workers discovered the icosahedral phase with five-fold symmetry axes in rapidly solidified AlsftMn14 alloy [1]. Since then many other metallic alloys have been discovered, the atomic structures of which violate the sacred rules of translational crystallography [2,3]. These dis-coveries generated a great theoretical and experi-mental research activity to understand the atomic and electronic structure and its effect on the physical properties of these materials, commonly called quasicrystals.
