摘要

This paper presents an easily implemented finitedifference (FD) analysis method for calculating the deformationsof multi-diameterworkpieces during turning. Finite difference models have beendeveloped to describe the deformation of a workpiece when theturning conditions such as the cutting force, the workpiecematerial as well as shape dimensions, and the clamping types aretaken into account. The proposed method has been verified bycomparing it with the theoretical results of a simple workpiecewith uniform diameter. Based on the results of calculation, amodified correction method, which is used to compensate thedeflections in order to achieve the required accuracy of workpiecediameter, is also proposed for turning operations.
