Thermal coal prices are expected to jump in the coming weeks as more European utilities enter the market for fourth quarter and first quarter supplies. "We've been in a summer lull for a few weeks, but this will change very soon," a trader told Coal Americas. "We truly exist in a global market today and tensions in Asia will spill over into Europe and the Americas. With China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Russia limiting coal exports, the pressure will be felt in every market, so we should see thermal coal prices rebounding in the weeks ahead."
