In orchards with 16 traps/acre, fruit fly infested fruits were 10.5 per cent as compared to 54.4 per cent in untreated pear orchards. Maximum fruit flies/16 traps were trapped in Pathankot (76935 flies) followed by 6921 in Nabha. Atotal of 111782.2 male fruit flies were trapped at 12 different locations in 9 districts. In orchards, where 16 traps/ acre were fixed, the maximum per cent infested fruits were observed in Amritsar-2 (20%) followed by 15 per cent in Fazilka and Amrltsar-1 each and the maximum number of marketable fruits were recorded in Patiala-1 (1007 fruits/ tree) followed by Pathankot (952.8 fruits/ tree). In untreated orchards, maximum marketable fruits were recorded in Jalandhar (874.2 fruits/ tree) followed by Pathankot (846 fruits/tree). Thus, fruit flies in pear can be effectively managed by fixing PAU Fruit Fly Traps @ 16 traps/ acre in the first week of June.
