Anglo is into diamonds, but will remain keen about coal

The latest merger and acquisition news out of Canada is peaking interest about other possible future tie-ups, particularly which company might be interested in acquiring Walter Energy's Western Coal mines. Anglo is a natural candidate since its wholly owned Peace River Coal assets are located next to Western Coal's mines. In fact, the majority of the Canadian coal folk we spoke with believe Anglo is the most likely candidate to acquire Western's mines and eventually knock on Teck Resources' door down the road at a future date.
