Correction to 'Visualization of the failure of quartz under quasi-static and dynamic compression'

In the paper "Visualization of the failure of quartz under quasi-static and dynamic compression" by J. Kimberley et al. (Journal of Geophysical Research, 115, B08207, doi:10.1029/2009JB007006, 2010), the authors have recognized an error in the coordinate system used to define the crystal orientation [Kimberley el at, 2010]. This error resulted from the ambiguity in determining the positive sense of the x-axis [1120] while orienting the crystal via x-ray diffraction. The updated coordinate system from Figure 1 is shown here and represents a 180 degree rotation about the z-axis [0001] so that the positive x-axis [1120] is now pointing into the page in the top view.
