The Korbacvh fissure, which outcrops in an abandoned quarry near Korbach (Hesse, Germany),contains a famous Permian tetrapod fauna and is hosted by Permian marine carbonate rocks. Petrography of the host rock indicates strong dedolomitization related with precipitation of carbonate cements. Carbon and oxygen isotope data show the influence of isotopically light carbon and oxygen from the vadose zone in the immediate vicinity of the fissure, indicating that the Kaorbavch fissure acted as a conduit for meteoric fluids during the Permian time.
