The occurrence of Bipolaris sorghicola on Johnsongrass in Yugoslavia

Target leaf spots, a disease for the first time revealed in Yugoslavia, was observed on Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepensse )L.) Pers.) in September 1994 and mid August 1995. The causal agent was isolated and identified as Bipolaris sorghicola (Lefebvre and Sherwin)Alcorn. The gungus formed primary and secondary conidiophores and conidia. Pathogenicity of the fungus to Johnsongrass and sorghum cultivar was confirmed by artifically inoculation in the controlled environment chamber. Maize plants shown atypical symptoms and the fungus was not reisolated from the plant tissues.
