摘要

Phenol, catechol and 2- & 4-chlorophenol were degraded by utilizing five oxidation methods viz. UV, H_2O_2, Fe~(+2)/H_2O_2, UV/H_2O_2 and UV/Fe~(+2)/H_2O_2 in a batch reactor maintaining identical reaction conditions. Percent conversion of each pollutants and their chemical oxygen demand (COD) was measured after different time interval of reactions. The efficiency of each method was then analyzed. Observations found that while the efficiency of degradation of phenol and phenolic substrates by Fe~(+2)/H_2O_2 and UV/H_2O_2 are nearly same, degradation by using UV/Fe~(+2)/H_2O_2 is the most effective than other methods.
