Rearing technology of Conocephalus maculatus (Le Guillou) under laboratory conditions (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae)

Conocephalus maculatus (Le Guillou) passed through 6-7 instar life cycle with post embryonic development ranging from 45-55 days on flowering parts of baby corn. The adults matured within 12-28 days while the adult life span ranged between 50-120 days. The total life span was 95-175 days. Its survivability increased with decrease in density viz., i.e. with 100 insects/cage survivability was 24.3% whereas with 25 insects/cage the survivability was 56%.
