摘要

The goal of this paper is to provide a new welding technology based on microjet cooling just after the welding and to investigate the possibilities of improving the plastic properties of welds. This is possible because in this case the welds have a beneficial structure with a high amount of acicular ferrite (AF) in a weld metal deposit (WMD). A very high percentage of AF in the WMD (55-75%) cannot be obtained by an ordinary welding method (basic electrodes, MIG/MAG (Metal Inert/Active Gas), and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas)). Welding with microjet cooling is very promising and capable of industrial application, mainly due to the significant improvement of weld quality and reduction of costs.
