Sindhi embroidered household articles and housewives awareness, possession and willingness to possess them

Sindh is no more a part of India after 1947, but Sindhi embroidery still enjoys a place of pride among other traditional embroideries of India. To keep it alive and to know its future demands, a study had been undertaken to find out the awareness, possession and willingness to possess the household articles of Sindhi embroidery among housewives. The study was conducted on 100 housewives selected randomly from twelve localities of Ludhiana (Punjab). It was found that most of the respondents were aware of the Sindhi embroidery and possessed these articles. These were mainly bed sheets, table clothes, cushion covers and pillow covers. They were willing to possess cushion covers, table clothes, bed sheets/covers, sofa backs and pillow covers more thanwall hangings, table napkins, and toran/door hangings of Sindhi embroidery.
