Prospects of Interspecific and Intraspecific Diploid Cotton Hybrids in Punjab

Exploitation of hybrid vigour for higher productivity has been successfully demonstrated in cotton. Hybrid breeding in arboreum cottons is in progress at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. In the present investigation, 23 intra-arboreum hybrids developed at Punjab Agricultural University and five arboreum × herbaceum hybrids obtained from Mahyco Seed Company along with LD 327 were evaluated at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and its Regional Research Station, Kheri.
