Clumsy analogy yields melodramatic conclusion: MAP are not weapons of mass destruction

It is histrionic and misleading to compare research on MAP and Crohn's Disease to the fruitless search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq prior to the US invasion. The comparison is odious for several reasons. The Bush administration chose to ignore negative data about weapons of mass destruction from the International Atomic Energy Agency for political reasons, and launched a monstrous war. Is Dr. Van Kruiningen implying that research into MAP and Crohn's is like the Iraq war? That there might be a hidden agenda in MAP research? That MAP researchers are similar to George Bush and Dick Cheney? If he is only saying that the quest for MAP pathogenicity is like the quest for Iraqi weapons of mass destruction, that viable MAP are not found inside people with Crohn's Disease, just as no weapons of mass destruction were found within Iraq, then the simple metaphor is both clumsy and wrong, since he ignores data that show viable MAP are found within Crohn's patients, just as Bush ignored Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei.
