Age of cataract extraction in post-refractive surgery patients

Despite the excellent outcomes and growing popularity of refractive surgery, patients note visual disturbances postoperatively, including starbursts, halos, loss of contrast sensitivity, glare disability, and image degradation. Symptoms of visually significant cataracts are similar. Because of the large overlap of symptoms, visual disturbances from refractive surgery may be mistakenly attributed to cataract formation or visual disturbances after refractive surgery may compound symptoms of cataracts, leading to early diagnosis of cataract. In this report, we explore the mean age of cataract extraction in patients who have had previous refractive surgery.
