摘要

Al-A206/5 vol.% alumina_p cast composites were synthesized by the addition of reinforcing particles into molten Al alloy, semi-solid and liquid states, in two different forms: (1) as received alumina particles and (2) pre-synthesized composite reinforcement prepared via milling of alumina with Al and Mg powders (master metal matrix composite). The effects of powder addition technique, reinforcing particle size and interface bonding strength on tensile properties and fracture behavior of Al-A206/5 vol.% alumina_p composites were then investigated. It was found that fabrication of Al-A206/ alumina_p composites by master metal matrix composite addition in the semi-solid state leads to considerable improvement in tensile properties.
