摘要

"With the rapid advances in a constantly changing world, many professions experience competition to survive. Nurses work in a high risk, high stress environment (not to mention the non-work related stressors they face) that adds up on a daily basis (Robinson et al. 1991, Edwards & Roemer 1996). In the early nineties, American peer support programmes developed from the needs identified by the social support system (Hokanson & Wirth 2000). Peer support is defined as the mutual support provided between colleagues that enables one to deal with work related or non-work related stress (Guillaume & McMillan 2002). From a survey taken at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, nurses reflected that the psychosocial support needed to maintain health cannot be provided only by administration. As a result, in April of 2003, a nursing peer support programme was established.
