Thermal fragmentation of N-arylbenzamide oximes I, II and N-arylbenzamide O-phenylsulfonyloximes III, IV, either in a sealed tube under nitrogen in naphthalene or under reflux in boiling anhydrous tetralin and in isoquinoline as a radical trap are investigated and the mechanism of the thermal fragmentation discussed.
