Accreditation process of a proficiency testing provider according to ILAC G13: 2000/ISO G43-1: 1999

Medical laboratories accredited by ISO 15189:2003 [1], are required complying with clause 5.6.4 which states that a laboratory should participate in interlaboratory comparisons such as those organized by external quality assessment schemes. It also states that interlaboratory comparison programs shall be in substantial agreement with ISO/IEC Guide 43:1.Additionally, the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Guidelines set out the criteria, which a provider of proficiency testing schemes (and associated collaborators) shall meet in order to be recognized as competent to provide specific types of proficiency testing schemes [2]. And, which is considered to have met the existing requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 43-1:1997 and ISO/IEC 17025:2000 or ISO 9000:1994.
