Developmental psychopathology: Plus ?a change, plus c'est la même chose? (The more it changes, the more it is the same)

WITH THE ADVENT OF NEW RESEARCH STRATEGIES, including genetic studies, much of psychiatric research is turning to areas that have largely been in the purview of child and adolescent psychiatrists and others who study developmental psychopathology. This is because it is increasingly clear that a major proportion of all psychopathology persists in one form or another after it begins quite early in life. This phenomenon poses challenges to those who study psychopathology and make clinical diagnoses, and, in particular, to those who study and monitor clinical interventions.
