Spanish longs producers increase prices, success doubtful

The situation in the Spanish market for longs makes suppliers pessimistic. Algerian buyers cut their purchasessubstantially in the late May and are still reluctant to buy Spanishfinished longs. Moreover, it is still unclear whether they will comeback to the market soon, even though the producers expect themto. Stocks of the material are high in Algeria, and offers of Spanishmaterial become less attractive in view of the much stronger euroagainst the US dollar. Domestic buying activity remains rather slowin Spain, only stockists scarcely signing deals.
