Mount Gibson Iron (Australia) cuts iron ore production in Q1

Australia’s Mount Gibson Iron produced some 1.87 mt of iron ore in Q1, down 16% q-o-q. Sales were 2 mt (25% down). The company is running three iron ore projects: Koolan Island (designed capacity of 4 mtpy to be reached in late 2014), Tallering Peak and Extension Hill (3 mtpy each). The miner extracted 502,000 t at Extension Hill over the period under review (25.5% down). Lumps and fines sales were 180,000 t and 426,000 t respectively.
