CIS square billet prices to start rising in mid-January and drop again in February

Because of falling scrap prices in Turkey and difficulties with selling Turkishlong products in both the external and domestic markets, CIS square billetsuppliers began giving discounts to foreign buyers starting from late November,in most cases deals being made at $510-515/t FOB Black/Azov Sea. Given thetrend change observed in the steel scrap market, contract prices will not gobelow the mentioned level throughout December. It is expected that squarebillet exporters will manage to sell part of January output at $515/t FOB Black/Azov Sea before the beginning of New Year holidays.
