When Jose Cruz arrived in the U.S. from Guatemala in the 1970s, he couldn't have imagined the legacy he would leave for his family. Weak in English skills, he suffered many hiring rejections, but through hard work and determination learned to clean buildings damaged by flood or fire. By 1982, he was able to open his own restoration company.
