Over the past 20 years, there has been a burgeoning interest in problem solving approaches that are inspired by ubiquitous phenomena in nature, specifically but not limited to optimization, search, and discovery. Evidence for this assertion is supported by consummatory behaviors (such as seeking and obtaining food, water, or sex) that preserve self and species, All of these take place in the context of competition, symbiosis, and co-evolution. Ultimately, these are highly stochastic, self-organizing processes that are governed by some type of meta-heuristic that is focused on discovery.
