Be creative and proactive. Those are two surefire ways to keep a dealership solvent and forward-moving even in uncertain times. The two approaches have much in common. So much so, that what is labeled either creative or proactive in the current decade may, in the past, have been more matter-of-factly called getting-down-to-business. The point is that saving money that need not be spent in the first place is as easy as thinking before acting. And in that context, many of the best ideas pass the test of time. To "keep expenses down," look for ways to consolidate trips and earn more from each investment made in fuel and vehicle maintenance, explains Richard Davis, CEO, Triple D Sales Company Inc., Madison, VA.
