On the occurrence of the giant devil ray Mobula mobular (Bonnaterre, 1788) from the Mediterranean coast of Turkey - a by-catch documentation

The giant devil ray Mobula mobular (Bonnaterre, 1788) is considered an Atlanto-Mediterranean species by some authors (Fisher et al., 1987; Capape et al., 1990) and endemic to the Mediterranean Sea by others (Notarbartolo di Sciara and Bianchi, 1998). The giant devil ray occurs in o?shore, deep waters, and occasionally in shallow waters (Bradai and Capape, 2001) throughout the Mediterranean Sea, in depths from a few tens of meters to several thousand meters (with the exception of the northern Adriatic).
