摘要

An increasing body of literature has indicatedthat social stories are an effective way to teach individualsdiagnosed with autism appropriate social behavior. Thisstudy compared two formats of a social story targeting theimprovement of social skills during game play using apretest posttest repeated measures randomized controlgroup design. A total of 45 children diagnosed with AutismSpectrum Disorder (ASD) ages 7-14 were randomlyassigned to standard, directive, or control story conditions. Results demonstrated that the standard and directive storyformats were equally as effective in eliciting, generalizingand maintaining the targeted social skills in participantswho had prior game play experience and Verbal Compre-hension Index (VCI) scores from the WISC-IV intelligencetest in the borderline range or above.
