摘要

Polyoxometalates (POMS), due to their attractivephysical and chemical properties, biological significance as well aswide applications, have been the subject of numerous studies. Theresults of investigations concerning the synthesis, properties andstructure of POMs and their lanthanide(III) complexes (LnPOM)are briefly reviewed. Useful techniques for the verification ofPOM compositions and the determination of components,including new spectrophotometric methods for the determinationof tungsten and molybdenum and for simultaneous determinationof these elements in structures of POMs and their LnPOMcomplexes, are described. The important role of the Nd(III)hypersensitive absorption band and Eu(III) luminescencespectroscopy as well as FTIR spectra in the investigation of POMsand LnPOM complexes is discussed. The use of EPR to studymagnetic properties and coordination of Gd(III) complexes withPOMs, and to probe the local environment of the host metal site interms of symmetry, is presented.
