Villars' s system of atomic parameters, Rsp VE andXMB, has been used to investigate the regularities of the formationof ternary intermetallic compounds between one nontransitionelement (M) and two transition elements (T and T'). It has beenfound that ternary compounds are usually formed when T is anearly transition metal and T' is a late transition metal if X MB ofthe nontransition metal M is MB larger than 1.45. Theregularities of formation of ternary intermetallic compounds in theT-T'-M with two late transition elements or two early transitionelements are also investigated.
