Asian economic cooperation in the new millennium: China's economic presence

In the light of recent trade developments and new proposals under consideration, we need to understand the implications of recent trade developments and to evaluate carefully the possible effects of new trade proposals. Analysis is needed to assess the effects of alternative arrangements for trade integration on regional and global trade patterns, and to improve our understanding of the implications of trade integration on growth patterns across sectors. Economic analysis is essential in assisting policymakers to identify winners and losers, and underpins sound policy formulation.
