In short,the EC air quality framework directive and her first and second daughter requires that since 2002 the air quality has to be assessed and monitored area wide in each member state using the combined efforts of observational networks and modelling.Objectives of the EC air quality directives are SO_2,NO_X,NO_2,CO,benzene,Pb and aerosol particles (PM_(10)).Limit values will have to be met for e.g.,PM_(10) in 2005 and for e.g.,NO_2 in 2010.
