摘要

Ambient sampling of paniculate matter is important to understand the chemical and physical properties of air pollution,such as;to control the compliance with air quality standards and for possible apportionment of paniculate matter to the emitting source based on its chemical composition.Bangkok being Thailand's center of commerce and industry is particularly affected by air pollution.The ambient air standards for Thailand regarding the total suspended particles(TSP)and particulate matter(PM-10)are 330 and 120 ng/m~3,respectively,based on the 24-hr average.It is known however that particles much smaller than 10mum can have an adverse health and environmental impact.For that reason a study has been undertaken to assess the particulate burden in ambient air in size classes corresponding not only to TSP and PM-10,but also taking into account size classes related to PM-2.5 and even to PM-1.The latter one,although until now without a reference method,is widely recognized as an important cut-size related to respiratory issue.
