摘要

Earlier studies on benzene (C_6H_6) removal focused mainly on pyrolysis.They were conducted over a wide range of temperatures and concentration.Stable gaseous products found after decomposition include C_2H_2,CH_4,C_2H_4,H_2 and C_4H_2 [Slysh & Kinney,1961].The overall reaction can be successfully elucidated by the chain reaction mechanism proposed by Bauer & Aten [1963].Because of their undesirable health effects from the by-products benzene oxidation and combustion has drawn much attention lately.Among these processes phenol (C6H}OH) is a highly reactive species that has been mentioned in many studies [Tregrossi,et al.,1999;McEnally & Pfefferle,2002].Non-thermal plasma has been proved to be an effective tool for decomposing many types of air pollutants in the laboratories.In this study,a radio-frequency (RF) plasma was used to decompose the benzene in vapor phase,and gaseous products formed in the C_6H_6/Ar,C_6H_6/H_2/Ar,and C_6H_6/O_2/Ar systems were separately investigated.
