The New SBA Constitution

THE second phase of consultation on the new constitution begins on July 1 and runs until 30 September. I would therefore urge all members to visit the members' page of the web site to download the paperwork, and feed back your views. Please send yourfeedback directly to me:webmaster@scottishbeekeepers.org. uk. Now that we have reached this point it is perhaps a good opportunity to explain the whole process in a bit more detail. While we have so far described the process as one of changing the constitution, there is rathermore to it than that. Those who were present at the AGM will recall that in order to achieve the change of status of the SBA to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (an SCIO), it is in fact necessary for us to formally dissolve the current SBA, and create a new SBA with the same name but known instead as SBA(SCIO). Under the existing constitution, there is no provision for a postal vote in the process of dissolution, therefore when it comes to the vote at an EGM next March, immediately following the AGM, you will have to be present in person in order to cast your vote. Do please remember to bring your membership (Moir) card with you.
