Boston—Recent measles outbreaks in the United States and elsewhere are raising a number of questions about vaccination against this infection, such as the efficacy of current immunization schedules and the high costs of treating infected individuals. At the 49th Annual Meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) held here in late October, investigators gave several glimpses of the impact that outbreaks have had in different regions in 2011.
