With the legislature back in session, we can expect to hear plenty about this controversial topic. There is certainly no shortage of opinions. I have several myself. A recent study confirmed that there is a much higher incidence of illegal production in Northeastern Oklahoma than in other parts of the state.Law enforcement groups are supporting tighter controls on the pseudoephedrine used in so called shake and bake small batch production.The law enforcement community sees the aggressive risk taking behavior of meth users on a regular basis. They are exposed to toxic chemicals when labs are busted as are the hazmat teams involved in clean-up. My background in Occupational Medicine makes me particularly sensitive to their concerns.
