Win-win cooperation between regulators, IADC leads to more efficient moving of MODUs

Editor's note: This article is the second in a series of articles by members of the International Regulators Forum to be published in 2008 that will focus on the critical issue of asset integrity. The first article discussed findings from a three-year inspection programme concluding that major improvement is needed for installation integrity on the UKCS. In this issue, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) of Norway discusses how a collaborative effort between regulators and IADC led to the IADC HSE Case Guidelines, which allows for more efficient case management as rigs move from country to country. Upcoming articles by Australia's National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority (NOPSA) and the Netherlands' State Supervision of Mines will provide additional perspectives on how industry can improve asset integrity.
