Polish and Ukrainian airspace has been completely redesigned by the region’s air traffic control agency, Eurocontrol, to cope with this year’s Euro 2012 football tournament and the potential 150 extra flights per day to the two host nations during the Jun. 8-Jul. 1 competition. The tournament is being seen as a test run for similar measures being taken to handle the UK’s London 2012 Olympics this summer for which UK airspace has also undergone a major overhaul.
