North American Snapshot:US Weakness Overwhelms Mexican Recovery

North American jet fuel demand fell to 1.5 million b/d in October — a 3.3% drop versus year-earlier rates. A 23% spurt in Mexican usage as tourism staged a recovery did little to offset the 4.2% drop in the big US market. Liftings on the US Gulf Coast were especially weak, dropping by 44%. Canadian demand fell by 1.9% in October. Early indications suggest that fourth-quarter trends will be weaker than the third quarter, when North American demand was flat versus the year-earlier period.
